Adding motivation to help poor households in Thach Thanh settle down

Mrs. Pham Thi Che, Phu Son quarter, Kim Tan town (Thach Thanh) in her new house.

At the age of 76, Ms. Le Thi Nguyen in Ward 2, Kim Tan town, is often sick and has no stable income. For many years, Ms. Nguyen has lived with her younger brother, Le Van Thuy, who is on social security. The daily activities of Ms. Nguyen and her sister mainly depend on collecting scrap, so life is difficult. The house has seriously deteriorated over time, but Ms. Nguyen and her sister do not have the ability to repair or rebuild.

The issuance of Directive No. 22-CT/TU has helped Ms. Nguyen and her sisters have the opportunity to live in a more solid and spacious house. At the handover ceremony of the new house, Ms. Nguyen choked up: “When we learned that our family received 80 million VND in support from the Provincial Steering Committee for Housing Construction for Poor Households, Policy Households, and Households with Housing Difficulties, my sisters and I were both happy and worried. We were happy because the opportunity to replace our long-deteriorated house had come, but we were worried because we didn't know where to get the counterpart funds. Fortunately, with the attention of the province, district and local authorities, relatives and neighbors helped me with labor and money to build a new house with a total value of 120 million VND."

Sharing the joy of Mrs. Nguyen, the house of Mrs. Pham Thi Che, 85 years old, in Phu Son quarter, Kim Tan town was also completed in April 2025. In the story with us, Mrs. Che said that she has 3 children who have moved out but their jobs are unstable, life is difficult and hard. In early 2025, she was supported to build a new house according to Directive No. 22-CT/TU. In addition to 80 million VND in support money, with the contribution of her children, relatives and neighbors, the house of nearly 30 square meters with a total cost of nearly 100 million VND was completed. "I am very happy to live in this spacious house. This is both a place to rest and a place for family reunion. I will always encourage my children to overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives" - Mrs. Che said.

Realizing the importance of Directive No. 22-CT/TU, Kim Tan town quickly established a steering committee and deployed it to each residential area and enterprise in the spirit of mutual love and support. Mr. Pham Van Han, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kim Tan town, said: "After screening, the town has 11 families in need of housing support, including 9 households building new houses and 2 households repairing them. Thanks to good propaganda and mobilization, people clearly understand the purpose and humane meaning of the campaign. The implementation of the right subjects has created high consensus among the people. Up to now, 2 houses in need of repair have been completed as planned, 8 newly built houses have been completed, and 1 house is being completed."

With the determination to bring warm homes to the disadvantaged so that no one is left behind, in the past time, in order to review the right subjects, with the right purpose, and achieve high results, Thach Thanh district has established a steering committee for the district-level movement, established a review and appraisal committee to determine the right subjects for support. Ms. Quach Thi Tuoi, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thach Thanh district, said: In performing the assigned tasks, agencies, organizations, departments and professional offices have actively reviewed, synthesized and classified the subjects to avoid overlap in policy benefits. At the same time, urgently and timely complete the synthesis of the list of poor and near-poor households supported to build and repair houses to report and propose the province to transfer the budget to save 5% of regular expenditure from the State budget to support the above subjects.

During the implementation process, the steering committee closely coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, relevant departments and offices to conduct surveys, reviews, inspections, urging, and resolving issues within the assigned scope and authority to remove difficulties and obstacles in implementing the campaign. With the efforts and high responsibility of the steering committee, all levels, sectors and all people in the district with the spirit of not leaving anyone behind, Thach Thanh district has mobilized a total fund for housing construction of over 27 billion VND, supporting the repair and construction of houses for 376/376 families according to Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee. From there, it has added motivation, helping the poor have stable housing and rise up in life.
