Continue to lead in training and developing human resources in social sciences and humanities

On the morning of September 21, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City National University held the opening ceremony of the 2023-2024 academic year. Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department attended and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

The speech at the Opening Ceremony presented by the Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City National University, Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, said: Last school year, the school entered a period of autonomy, right after the difficulties caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the efforts of the staff, lecturers and students, the school overcame the difficulties to complete the training and enrollment plan.

One of the highlights of the past school year was that the School applied information technology and digital transformation to management, training and enrollment; program accreditation, internationalization of training programs, taking students as the main subject, promoting professionalism, implementing the strategy of publishing international scientific research with the School's lecturers and staff. The School has had many projects serving the community, providing policy advice to society and localities across the country. In addition, through many specific and practical activities, the School has strongly spread the humanistic image and good cultural values of the Vietnamese people.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, sent his congratulations to the leaders, lecturers, students and pupils of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to welcome a new school year with new victories; at the same time, he praised and highly appreciated the achievements and contributions of the school over the past 65 years and the remarkable achievements in the past school year 2022 - 2023.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities under Ho Chi Minh City National University is a school with a history of more than 65 years of establishment and development. Up to now, the School has become a leading training and research center in the country in the field of social sciences and humanities; a prestigious and reliable address for international partners; a multidisciplinary university with 29 affiliated faculties, 19 centers, 13 functional departments, more than 900 lecturers and nearly 20,000 students, trainees and postgraduates working and studying. The school has partnerships with more than 250 universities and research institutes around the world.

Since its establishment, the School has achieved many outstanding achievements in scientific research and international cooperation, with many outstanding contributions in training human resources, especially high-quality human resources in social sciences and humanities, contributing to the successful implementation of political tasks assigned by the Party and the State. Over the past 65 years, the School has trained many outstanding teachers, scientists, politicians, managers, artists, and businessmen for the country. Among them, many generations of alumni of the School have held and are holding very important positions and responsibilities of the Party and the State.

In the 2022-2023 school year, the University continues to achieve positive results, with many outstanding achievements in training, scientific research and international cooperation. The University has completed 100% of the strategic targets for university governance and science and technology development strategy to serve the community; completed 67% of the strategic targets for learner affairs, university culture and financial facilities strategy.

Recalling the contents of the 13th National Party Congress in the development of social sciences and humanities, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities should continue to deeply perceive and well organize the implementation of tasks and solutions for the development of education and training, science and technology in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; Resolution 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training. Create a breakthrough in the quality of training and scientific research to continue to lead in training and developing human resources, especially high-quality human resources in the field of social sciences and humanities, with comprehensive knowledge, social responsibility, leadership capacity, entrepreneurial thinking, meeting the requirements of national development and international integration.

Along with that, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities needs to continue to promote autonomy, considering university autonomy as a breakthrough solution for development; have strong enough policies to attract and promote domestic and foreign talents to participate in training activities, scientific research and international cooperation; innovate school governance towards modernity and international integration...; Continue to accelerate the digital transformation process, soon pilot digital university, proactively and actively fulfill social responsibilities and serve the community.

The school continues to further improve the quality and effectiveness of training in the fields of study that the school has strengths in. Research, create, and disseminate knowledge of social sciences and humanities, contributing to solving practical problems of the country, meeting the development requirements of society and the country in each period, updating and adapting to the general development trend of social sciences and humanities in the world. Special attention is paid to cultural education, ethics, lifestyle, personality education and the desire to contribute to the younger generation. Closely linking training with the building of a national value system, a cultural value system, a family value system, and a value system of Vietnamese people.

To the students, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed that they should be proactive in studying, researching, and taking advantage of this opportunity with the companionship of friends, with the help of teachers and the School for a bright future ahead.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, representatives of diplomatic agencies, Mr. Enrico Padula - Consul General, Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that in recent times, training programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University have promoted the building of good friendship relations on the basis of mutual understanding and appreciation between young Vietnamese people and other cultures in the world.../.
