On May 9, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) officially announced the incident of a student of VHQ (majoring in Tourism and Travel Services Management) for his inappropriate behavior at the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
Specifically, HUTECH held a Student Disciplinary Council meeting to comprehensively review the incident, based on the report, and at the same time evaluate the male student's sincerity and desire to correct his mistakes.
Two students from Van Lang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology caused outrage for being disrespectful to veterans.
Accordingly, the school agreed on the form of reprimand, requiring students to seriously review and commit not to repeat the offense. The Student Affairs Department, the Faculty of Tourism - Restaurant - Hotel Management and related units will continue to monitor and support students in the coming time.
The school added that immediately after the incident, male student VHQ posted a public apology on his personal page and proactively sought to contact veterans to directly admit his mistake.
HUTECH also invited students and their families to the school to discuss and clarify the incident in the spirit of supporting students to recognize right from wrong, correct mistakes and grow up. Along with that, the school connected with two veterans - who were directly present at the ceremony that day - to have the students apologize.
"The two veterans listened to the student's apology with sympathy and understanding, and believed that the student's actions were impulsive and due to youthful impetuosity. They also hoped that the community would create conditions for the student to correct his mistakes, continue to study and develop his future," the school informed, and expressed their desire to continue receiving support from the community in spreading positive values, creating conditions for young people to learn, mature and contribute to society.
Previously, on the morning of May 9, Van Lang University also officially announced the incident of an NNG student (majoring in Chinese Language) behaving inappropriately towards a veteran.
Through student reports, comprehensive assessment of students' learning process at the school, and consultation with educational management agencies, based on current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the Student Reward and Discipline Council of Van Lang University held a meeting and determined the form of reprimand and education for students.
The school agreed on "aneducational form of handling, creating conditions for students to have the opportunity to correct mistakes, mature, requiring students to seriously learn from their experiences, and commit to not repeating substandard behaviors."
