Northwestern University is among the most prestigious universities in China. It is located in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. The appointment of Ms. Fan Dadi (59 years old) as vice principal of the university has caused a stir among the Chinese public because Ms. Dadi is... too rich.
Fan Dadi is the richest person in Shaanxi Province. According to Chinese media, she may be the university leader with the largest assets in China at the moment.

Ms. Pham Dai De has just been appointed as Vice Principal, in charge of international cooperation at Tay Bac University. What is admirable about her lies in the roles she has held, which have helped her build a huge fortune through her education.
Female intellectual elite in business world
Born in a village in Pucheng County, Shaanxi Province, Dai Di is the daughter of a rural doctor. Dai Di earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry at Northwest University in the 1980s.
In 1994, she received her PhD in biochemical engineering from East China University of Science and Technology. In academia, Dai De is known as the first Chinese woman to have a doctorate in this field.
Instead of staying in Shanghai or going abroad to study and work, Ms. Dai De surprised everyone who knew her by deciding to return to her hometown to teach and do research at Northwestern University.
In 2000, Ms. Dai De and her husband founded the biotechnology company Giant Biogene. In the same year, she invented and patented recombinant collagen technology, creating the foundation for a series of high-end skin care masks, which are the main and very popular product lines of the Giant Biogene company.
In addition, the couple also invested heavily in an aviation materials manufacturing company. The total assets of Dai De and her husband as of May 12 reached 45.7 billion yuan (about 6 billion USD).
Good at research and good at business
Despite her quick and sharp business mind, Ms. Pham Dai De still sticks to scientific research.
For the past two decades, she has been involved in both her own business and teaching at Northwestern University. Before being appointed vice president of the university, she was the head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and a professor supervising doctoral students.

In response to the great public interest in her, Ms. Dai De accepted an interview and affirmed that her top priority is still working inthe education sector. She affirmed that except for the times when she is away on business trips, she is always present in the laboratory to guide students and researchers, and she has never neglected her professional work at school.
"I like being in the lab, guiding students in doing scientific research. I consider participating in training talented people for the country as my responsibility," said Ms. Dai De.
Currently, Mrs. Dai De's daughter - Nghiem Ngoc Bac (29 years old) - has graduated with a master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (USA). She holds the position of executive director at the company Giant Biogene founded by her parents.
