Recently, the famous Korean newspaper - Korean Daily published a report about the Laos team.
In the report, coach Ha Hyeok Jun said that in Laos there is almost no concept of professional players.
A Korean newspaper revealed that on average, Lao players only earn 3.5 million VND/month.
“A soccer player’s income is only about 3 million kip per month, equivalent to 3.5 million VND. Therefore, this national player has to find another job to make a living,” said the Korean Daily.
To clarify this information, the Korean newspaper has provided some evidence from coach Ha Hyeok Jun's sharing.
Specifically, player Phathana Phommathep - who scored in the 3-3 draw with Indonesia at the AFF Cup 2024 - had to drive a taxi to earn extra income.
Meanwhile, Chony Waenpaseuth – the player who scored in the 2-3 loss to Myanmar in the AFF Cup 2024 chose to work at a restaurant after each training session.
Coach Ha Hyeok Jun said he was quite surprised when he first came to work in Laos. The players here could hardly concentrate all their time on training and competing.
Therefore, in each team meeting, he often lets them practice with high intensity and eat the most nutritious food possible.
Related information, Laos is the first opponent of the Vietnamese team in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
According to the schedule, the match between the two teams will take place on March 25, at Binh Duong Stadium.
