According to Mr. Dam Hai Van, Head of Nha Trang Bay Management Board, the situation of oil clumping from offshore due to waves has been happening for many years. The oil clumps mixed with sand are very difficult to distinguish and are collected and cleaned by environmental staff. Currently, related departments are still investigating the cause. The Board has also reported to Nha Trang City People's Committee for further handling.

Last year, oil clumps also appeared on Nha Trang beach, many people were worried and did not dare to swim.

According to experts, the black clumps mentioned above are likely a mixture of many substances discharged into the sea by ocean-going ships. Over time, they settle on the seabed, change their chemical properties into black clumps of oil, and then follow the currents to wash ashore.
