According to information from Ba Be District Party Secretary Duong Ngoc Thuyet, authorities found the victims' bodies and handed them over to their families for burial according to local customs.
The victims' identities include: Mr. Nguyen Van Bac (born in 1945) and Ms. Duong Thi Mui (born in 1941), both residing in Tan Luot village, Dong Phuc commune; Mr. Ly Hoc Vuong (born in 1978) and Ms. Trieu Thi Dang (born in 1960), both residing in Phieng Kham village, Yen Duong commune.
The flash flood also broke the arm of Ms. Ly Thi Dao (born in 1981) in Phieng Kham village and seriously injured Mr. Ly Nguyen Phi, also in Phieng Kham village.
Preliminary statistics show that in Ba Be, due to heavy rain and floods, the concrete road connecting Provincial Road 258 to National Road 279 had a landslide on the negative slope; the Ba Be Lake bypass road had many rocks rolling down from the mountain; Provincial Road 253 through Na Gia village, Ha Hieu commune was deeply flooded; Coc Dong spillway bridge, Na Khao village, Phuc Loc commune had a landslide; 5 rigid bridges, 2 suspension bridges, 2 combined spillways, and 3 stream embankments in Dia Linh commune were severely damaged.
Regarding agriculture , about 500 hectares of people's crops, especially areas growing specialty aromatic green squash, were swept away, inundated, and damaged by floods. The Nhung Luy Cooperative in Yen Duong Commune had 90 cows die or escape from their pens due to floodwaters entering their barns.
Ba Be district is focusing on directing the overcoming of consequences according to the 4 on-site motto; posting warning signs, prohibiting people and vehicles from passing through landslide locations; monitoring weather developments to warn and guide people in response.
