All bodies of missing victims of landslide in Lai Chau found

By 2:00 p.m. on May 17, rescue forces in Lai Chau province had found all the bodies of the five missing victims in the landslide that occurred in Si Lo Lau commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau.

The body of the last victim, Luong Van Ha, born in 1987, was found about 100m downstream from the landslide. Earlier that morning, after reaching the scene, the rescue team found the bodies of four victims: Ly Lao San, born in 2008; Tan U May, born in 1984; Phan Lao Lo, born in 2009; Tan Su May, born in 1986.

Immediately after finding the victims' bodies, the authorities completed legal procedures in accordance with the law and handed them over to their families for burial according to local customs and practices. Victim Luong Van Ha was authorized by his family to have the construction unit complete the procedures and return to his hometown in Nghe An .

Up to now, functional forces and local organizations such as: police, military , Red Cross, District Fatherland Front Committee, investors, employers... have given money to support the families of the victims according to regulations. Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee also directed medical units to actively treat the injured victims.
