From a barnyard to a hot check-in spot on social media

From early morning on May 18, dozens of people and tourists were present at "Phuc Xa Flower Wharf" (Phuc Xa ward, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi ) to take photos and check-in.

This is the name of an area along the Red River at the foot of Long Bien Bridge, where the Women's Union of Ba Dinh District has dedicated 300 square meters to growing pink grass. The grass was propagated in January (February of the solar calendar), and began welcoming visitors on May 9.

People dress up in different styles and designs when taking pictures. Light, soft tones are often chosen when taking pictures with the pink grass field as a backdrop.

Ms. Phuong Thuy (40 years old, Ba Dinh district) said that after the flower wharf was renovated from a shabby, shabby area, the landscape here has changed significantly with a colorful space. "I hope that in the future, the entire flower wharf area will be expanded further, becoming a prominent tourist destination, connecting people and tourists," Ms. Thuy expressed.

Pink grass is a weed, belonging to the conifer group, often growing in small bushes with fragile stems and leaves. During the rainy season, young grass sprouts above the ground carrying tiny purple-pink flowers. In the morning, dew drops are thick on the grass, sparkling, so it is also called snow grass.

Pink grass grows intertwined, covering the garden space. The best time to admire and take pictures of pink grass is at dawn and dusk, when the sun is not too harsh, the grass has beautiful colors.

Faced with a sudden increase in the number of tourists and locals coming to take pictures, the authorities of Phuc Xa ward hung warning signs, constantly reminding visitors to maintain hygiene and not to trample on the flowers.

Vu Mien (30 years old, Dong Da district) woke up at 4 am to put on makeup and prepare her outfit to go to the pink grass garden at "Phuc Xa flower wharf". "I found the pink grass field and Long Bien bridge setting very poetic and romantic, suitable for ancient dance, so I invited students from my dance class to come and film a short clip. I was also very worried when there was a heavy rain yesterday, afraid that the grass would wither, but luckily the pink grass space was still very bright. We took pictures here for more than 2 hours but we didn't feel tired", Mien said.

"With summer weather, the best time to take pictures is 6-7am and 4-5pm, the light will be warm, gentle, and poetic with the backdrop of the pink grass field and Long Bien bridge," said Huu Duc Duy (21 years old, Hoang Mai district).

“Phuc Xa flower wharf” is located right at the foot of Long Bien bridge. Previously, forces of Phuc Xa district and ward had cleared nearly 100 huts, barns, leveled nearly 10 hectares, and cut down about 5,000 wild trees; the Fatherland Front and mass organizations and volunteers joined hands with Phuc Xa to clean up the environment and improve the land... The Ba Dinh District Women's Union, with the core of the staff of the Phuc Xa Ward Women's Union, is determined to turn the Red River bank and alluvial area into a bright spot in environmental protection.
