At 9:15 a.m. on May 17, rescuers found the body of the first of the five victims who went missing due to the landslide. At 9:50 a.m., rescuers found the bodies of two more victims in the landslide. Thus, three bodies of the five missing victims have been found. The identities of the three victims have been verified: Ly Lao San, born in 2008; Tan U May, born in 1984; and Phan Lao Lo, born in 2009.
On the night of May 16, due to continued rain, the slope in the landslide area was at risk of further landslides, so the rescue team had to temporarily suspend the search for missing victims buried by rocks and soil.
At 5am this morning, excavators were mobilized to remove obstacles on the top of the slope where the landslide occurred. Rescuers had to use ropes to lower people down the slope to remove obstacles and rocks that could cause landslides, creating the safest conditions for rescuers to approach the scene.

Colonel Do Ngoc Minh, Head of the 356th Defense Economic Group (Military Region 2), a member of the rescue force present at the scene, said: The slope slide is about 40m high and below there is about 200m3 of soil and rock, making it difficult to access the scene.

However, search and rescue efforts are being urgently deployed by forces, with the hope of finding the victims as soon as possible.
