Reading a speech at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam stated: Exactly 50 years ago, with the general offensive and uprising in the spring of 1975, with the steel will, courage and unparalleled strength of a heroic nation, our army and people completely crushed the neo-colonial regime established by the US in South Vietnam.

At exactly 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the victory flag flew proudly on the roof of the Independence Palace, marking a glorious end to the long, arduous but extremely glorious resistance war of the entire nation.

That victory was not only the brilliant peak of the national liberation struggle led by our Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh ; not only the most brilliant symbol in the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people, but also the victory of the strength of great national unity, of the aspiration for peace, independence, freedom and national unification, and at the same time an event of great international stature and profound epochal significance.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized: Quang Tri - the beloved heart of the Central region - where every inch of land, every river is soaked with the blood and tears of generations of heroes. Throughout the journey of building and defending the country, this land has always been the "front line", the "focus" in the indomitable marches, where the iron faith in the day when the country will be united is lit up.

During the more than 20 years of the long resistance war against the US, Quang Tri became a strategic bridgehead connecting the North and South, a steadfast fortress protecting the socialist North, directly supporting the great frontline in the South, and at the same time opening a strategic corridor for all three Indochinese countries.

When the Geneva Agreement in 1954 temporarily divided the country at the 17th Parallel, Hien Luong - the poetic river in the heart of Quang Tri suddenly became a painful wound dividing the country. The US imperialists and their henchmen betrayed the agreement, turning the South into a military base, causing the most fierce and brutal years of war in the history of the nation.

Quang Tri, with blood and tears, with boundless courage, has become the hottest battlefield, where every inch of land is a trench, every flag is an indomitable declaration. In the face of bombs and the enemy's evil plots, the army and people of Quang Tri remain steadfastly loyal to the Party and the revolution, firmly defending every inch of their homeland with the oath "Not an inch to go, not a glass to leave".

During those painful years, the flag on Hien Luong flagpole still flew proudly amidst the rain of bombs and bullets, becoming an immortal symbol of the will to unify the Fatherland, lighting up the never-ending faith in the hearts of the people of the whole country.

It is from that strength of belief and will that the army and people of Quang Tri, together with the whole country, have achieved glorious feats of arms: with the heroic steel rampart of Vinh Linh; Gio Linh, Trieu Phong, Hai Lang, Cam Lo, Dong Ha, steadfast and indomitable; with the immortal Quang Tri Citadel in 81 days and nights of blood and fire; with Route 9 - Khe Sanh burning with heroic victory songs and Con Co blooming with victory flowers, Quang Tri has contributed worthily to the great victory of the whole nation - the Great Spring Victory of 1975 - the most brilliant page in the thousand-year history of building and defending the country.

The war has long since ended, but those tragic memories, those pains, those silent and noble sacrifices still remain forever. Ben Hai - Hien Luong, the place that divided the country, has become a shining symbol of steadfast faith and burning desire: the desire for independence, unity, peace and development.

To have the unified country today, the entire Vietnamese people had to pay the price with blood and bones, with the sacrifice of millions of outstanding children, including tens of thousands of children of Quang Tri who incarnated into the motherland, turning this land into a sacred land, a fulcrum of patriotism and the undying desire for peace.

In the atmosphere of the historic April, at the foot of Hien Luong Flag Tower, delegates and the people of Quang Tri together witnessed the national flag being raised to the majestic sound of Tien Quan Ca music, in the brilliant colors of the red flag with yellow star, to together recall the heroic days, to together light up the pride and continue the immortal tradition of the nation.

In the emotion and infinite gratitude, the leaders of the Party Committee, the government and all classes of people of Quang Tri expressed their sincere gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh - the one who led our nation from slavery to glory. Forever grateful to the generations of revolutionary predecessors, grateful to the compatriots and comrades who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; deeply grateful to the heroic Vietnamese Mothers, families of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers..., those who devoted their youth to today's peace.

Promoting that heroic and indomitable tradition, the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Tri province vow to unite, innovate, develop sustainably, and build an increasingly prosperous homeland, worthy of the noble sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers and worthy of the trust and love of the whole country.

At the ceremony, special performances expressing the joy of unity and the aspiration for peace and development of the homeland and country were performed, creating an exciting, proud atmosphere and leaving a good impression on many local people and visitors from near and far.
