Seminar to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day

On the afternoon of May 16, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations held a seminar to celebrate the Vietnam Science and Technology (S&T) Traditional Day (May 18, 2014 - May 18, 2025) and review the 28-year tradition of the Bac Lieu Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations.

On May 18, 1963, at the First National Congress of the Vietnam Association for the Dissemination of Science and Technology, Uncle Ho assigned the task to Vietnamese scientists and science and technology managers to pay attention to the development of science and technology. On June 18, 2013, at the 5th Session, the 13th National Assembly held a plenary session and resolved to choose May 18 every year as Vietnam Science and Technology Day.

For the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations (established in 1997, with only 6 member associations), after 28 years of construction and development, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations' organizational system has continuously developed to 21 member associations and affiliated organizations gathering over 7,000 members.

In recent years, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have paid special attention to the province's science and technology activities, regularly honoring intellectuals with high achievements. All levels and sectors in the province are continuing to effectively implement Directive 22 of 2013 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to implement Resolution 6 of the Central Committee (11th tenure) on "Developing science and technology to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration".

Since then, the technical innovation movement has been constantly expanding; scientific research activities, consulting, criticism, and social appraisal have made much progress. Every year, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations collects research topics, registers them and sends them to the Department of Science and Technology, and at the same time conducts consulting, criticism, and social appraisal activities on average of 3 projects/year.

Not only that, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Bac Lieu Science and Technology intellectuals also actively contribute to the propaganda to bring the Party and State's guidelines, policies and guidelines into real life. Through the Electronic Information Portal and special issues, the knowledge of science and technology is constantly disseminated to all classes of people, gradually improving the level of science and technology, reaching out to the advanced level of science in the region and the whole country. The unit also effectively launched technical creative labor movements in the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, Technical Innovation Competition, Youth and Children's Creativity Competition... with achievements higher year after year.

The seminar is not only a traditional anniversary, but also an opportunity for the industry's officials to review their roots, expressing their belief that when the two provinces of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau merge, the team of science and technology intellectuals of the new province will continue to make more effective contributions to the cause of socio-economic development, national defense and security, soon turning the new province into a province with outstanding development in the era of the country's rise in the coming time.
