According to BBC , the Manhattan-based Court of International Trade has ruled to block the implementation of tariffs that President Trump introduced last month, saying that the White House boss exceeded his authority when imposing tariffs on imports from many countries around the world .

The court held that the US Constitution gives Congress the exclusive power to regulate trade with other countries, and that the President's emergency power to "protect the economy " cannot override this power.
The court also blocked a series of separate tariffs that the Trump administration has imposed on China, Mexico and Canada since he returned to the White House.
The lawsuit, filed by the Liberty Justice Center on behalf of five small businesses that import goods from countries hit by tariffs, is the first major legal challenge to Mr. Trump’s tariffs.
The attorney general of New York, one of 12 states that joined the lawsuit, welcomed the court's decision.
"The law is clear: No president has the authority to arbitrarily raise taxes whenever they want," New York Attorney General Letitia James stressed.
Just minutes after the ruling was handed down, the Trump administration filed an appeal.
"Unelected judges do not have the authority to decide how to properly address a national emergency. President Trump has pledged to put America first, and the Administration is committed to using every lever of executive power to address this crisis and restore American greatness," White House deputy press secretary Kush Desai said in a statement.
