According to the resolution just passed, the whole country is arranged into 34 provincial-level administrative units, including 28 provinces and 6 cities. In which, the entire natural area and population of Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces are arranged into a new province called Dong Nai province.
Previously, on June 5, the National Assembly Standing Committee also approved in principle 34 resolutions on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in 2025 of 34 provinces and centrally-run cities after the merger.
Thus, according to the resolutions of the People's Councils of the old Dong Nai province and Binh Phuoc province, the new Dong Nai province after the rearrangement will have 95 commune-level administrative units, including 23 wards and 72 communes. Of which, 88 are new commune-level units and 7 commune-level units will remain the same, without any rearrangement.
Specifically, 7 commune-level units remain unchanged and do not implement the arrangement, including 5 communes and wards of Dong Nai province: Tam Phuoc ward, Phuoc Tan ward (Bien Hoa city), Thanh Son commune (Dinh Quan district), Dak Lua commune (Tan Phu district), Phu Ly commune (Vinh Cuu district) and 2 communes of Binh Phuoc province: Bu Gia Map commune and Dak O commune (Bu Gia Map district).
