The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the first 6 months of 2024, the area of newly planted forests in the province reached 790 hectares, an increase of 1.28% over the same period.
At this time, it is the rainy season, forest owners are focusing on sowing, caring for seedlings, preparing land for afforestation, and planting scattered trees when weather conditions are favorable. To date, 3.73 million seedlings of all kinds have been sown. At the same time, they will continue to care for medicinal plant planting models under the forest canopy in 2022, 2023 and expand the model in 2024.
It is known that in 2024, the whole province will transfer 139,929.54 hectares of forest protection and 1,729.64 hectares of natural regeneration. At the same time, focus on building a project to develop sustainable wood material and processing areas in Binh Thuan province, period 2021 - 2030.
Since the beginning of the year, the work of forest management, protection, forest fire prevention and fighting in the dry season of 2024 has been strengthened by the authorities. Specifically, forest owners and localities have increased patrolling, inspection and raids in key areas of deforestation. Thereby, 136 cases of forestry law violations have been detected and handled (an increase of 28 cases over the same period), confiscating 105.7 m3 of various types of wood, 115.7 kg of wild animals, 1 car, 64 motorbikes and 30 other vehicles. The whole province has had 13 cases of encroachment and occupation of forest land with an area of 2.6 hectares (an increase of 2 cases over the same period).
