Concluding activities in Guangzhou (Guangdong province, China), on the evening of August 18, the plane carrying General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Baiyun International Airport, heading to Beijing. After a flight of nearly 2 hours and 30 minutes, the plane landed at Beijing Capital International Airport at 6:40 p.m. (local time), or about 4:40 p.m. the same day Vietnam time. According to VNA, Mr. Wang Yi, Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, personally welcomed General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife at the foot of the stairs. Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hung Ba, a number of department and bureau-level officials and a large number of Chinese people, officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Vietnamese community and students in China also came to welcome the delegation. A corner of the airport was lit up with red Vietnamese and Chinese flags and flowers to welcome the leader of the Vietnamese Party and State. In particular, the welcoming ceremony also featured a welcome dance performance by many Chinese youth, teenagers and children.

Earlier on August 18, in Guangzhou, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, held their first activities to commemorate the previous generations. The head of the Vietnamese Party and State and his wife visited the relic of the headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association at house number 13 (now 248-250) Van Minh Street, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China.

This is a place associated with the revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou from 1924-1927. Also on the morning of August 18, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking delegation, came to offer incense and flowers at the tomb of martyr Pham Hong Thai. Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Hoang Khon Minh and the entire Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee later met with General Secretary and President To Lam.

Activities of General Secretary and President To Lam in Beijing

According to VNA, in the evening of August 18, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing, met and talked with embassy staff, community representatives and Vietnamese students in China. It is expected that in Beijing, General Secretary and President To Lam will have an important meeting with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping tomorrow, August 19. He will also have meetings with other key Chinese leaders and a number of other important activities. This is the first state visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam in his new position. The visit takes place from August 18 to 20 at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.
