Russian forces continue shelling the eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka, according to Ukrainian officials. These officials believe that casualties have forced Russia to shift to an airstrike strategy instead of a ground offensive.

Oleh Synehub, the governor of the Kharkiv region, said two civilians were killed in a shelling attack on a village near Kupiansk. Several reports indicate that Russian forces have recently attacked the area north of Kupiansk.

Russia claims to have successfully shelled and airstriked around Bakhmut, a city in northeastern Ukraine that Russian forces captured in May after months of fighting. Reuters reported that it was unable to verify the reports of fighting from either side.

Reports suggest the Australian Prime Minister will discuss the conflict in Ukraine with Joe Biden during his visit to the United States.

Moldova blocked 20 Russian media outlets on Tuesday, saying they had been used in information warfare against the country. A ruling by the Moldovan Security and Intelligence Service listed 22 Russian news sites that would be blocked. The Russian Foreign Ministry was quoted as saying the decision was “a hostile step” aimed at depriving Moldovans of access to alternative news sources. Moldova has restricted the broadcasting rights of Russian news channels, as well as analytical and military content, since June 2022 following Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine.

Two people were killed and several others injured in Russian shelling of Kherson.
