On July 10, the Hanoi Moi newspaper organized a discussion on “Joining hands to push back counterfeit and poor quality goods to protect consumers’ health”, with the participation of representatives from the Drug Administration Department ( Ministry of Health ), Hanoi Market Management Department, Food Safety and Hygiene Department (Hanoi Department of Health) and many pharmaceutical and food enterprises. The program discussed the current situation of counterfeit and poor quality goods and false advertising that seriously affects consumers and legitimate enterprises.
The seminar was attended by representatives of many state management agencies and pharmaceutical and food enterprises.
Mr. Ta Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Drug Administration, said that recently, the Ministry of Health has organized 15 surprise inspection teams at establishments, discovering many violations in the field of functional foods (FF) and traditional medicines. The Department of Drug Administration has actively advised the Ministry of Health to strengthen control of business activities at small pharmacies and wholesale systems to prevent the situation of assisting in the sale of drugs and FFF not in accordance with regulations. He called on sectors, People's Committees of wards and communes to strengthen inspection work, press agencies to step up propaganda, forming a movement for people to participate in denouncing the situation of trading in fake drugs and FFF.
Tam Binh Pharmaceuticals: Don't be afraid of competition, but be most afraid of unfair competition
Speaking at the seminar, Master Nguyen Minh Hoang - Deputy General Director of Tam Binh Pharmaceutical Company gave frank opinions from the perspective of a genuine pharmaceutical enterprise that is being affected by the situation of counterfeit and poor quality goods.
He pointed out the alarming situation today when many businesses register products indiscriminately, manufacture without quality control, advertise falsely, exaggerate the effects to attract consumers, causing the market to be chaotic, confusing the real and the fake. He emphasized that in a special industry like pharmaceuticals, directly related to human health and life, the situation of counterfeit and fake goods not only harms users, but also takes away the opportunity to be treated and access quality products.
When these products do not deliver the expected results, or when counterfeit or substandard products are exposed, consumers lose confidence in the entire industry. Reputable businesses are also equated with substandard products, reducing market value and hindering the sustainable development of the pharmaceutical industry.
“We are not afraid to compete with other companies that share the same determination to bring the best products to consumers. The most worrying thing is when we work honestly but have to compete with dishonest companies,” he emphasized.
Master Nguyen Minh Hoang - Deputy General Director of Tam Binh Pharmaceutical Company shared at the seminar.
Mr. Hoang affirmed that Tam Binh Pharmaceuticals is committed to accompanying the authorities, genuine businesses and consumers in the "war" against counterfeit and poor quality goods. The Deputy General Director of Tam Binh Pharmaceuticals hopes that in the coming time, the implementation of new regulations will create a fairer market, with businesses competing healthily to improve product quality, bringing consumers the best products.
Tam Binh Pharmaceuticals is committed to working with authorities, legitimate businesses and consumers in the “fight” against counterfeit and substandard goods. The company has been cooperating with regulatory agencies in inspection and supervision activities, while continuing to promote communication and instruct consumers on how to identify genuine products, contributing to building a transparent, safe and sustainable pharmaceutical market.
As a prestigious pharmaceutical brand, Mr. Hoang said that Tam Binh Pharmaceuticals has implemented many synchronous measures to protect consumer rights. The company has invested in building a GMP-standard manufacturing plant for traditional medicine, and a medicinal herb growing area that meets GACP-WHO standards. All Tam Binh products undergo a strict quality control process and are only released to the market after being licensed for circulation by the Ministry of Health.
In particular, all Tam Binh products are equipped with anti-counterfeit stamps. The company's distribution system is strictly controlled, not allowing products to float on the market. At the same time, Tam Binh actively communicates on the company's website and fanpage to provide information to help consumers easily distinguish between genuine and fake products.
These consistent actions demonstrate Tam Binh’s responsibility to the health of customers and the community. It is also the way businesses protect their brand reputation and maintain sustainable trust with consumers.
What should consumers do to choose quality products?
Sharing at the seminar, Mr. Duong Manh Hung, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Market Management Department, said that most of the subjects producing counterfeit and poor quality goods often organize production in remote areas, bordering provinces and cities... Many subjects take advantage of modern technology, e-commerce, and social networks to conceal their violations, making it difficult for investigation and verification.
According to Mr. Hung, in the context of increasingly sophisticated violations, people need to become smart consumers, choose reputable websites, buy genuine products and carefully refer to reviews, feedback and comments from other users about the quality of that product before deciding to buy.
According to Mr. Duong Manh Hung, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Market Management Department, people should prioritize buying genuine products and reputable brands.
“Implementing the direction of General Secretary To Lam and concretizing the city's policy, we will declare a more fierce fight against counterfeit goods, determined to do well the task of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of legitimate businesses as well as protecting the health of consumers,” Mr. Duong Manh Hung emphasized.
Counterfeit and poor quality goods are a burning issue, but consumers should not be too afraid or hesitant to use pharmaceutical products. The important thing is to choose the right products with clear origins, licensed by the authorities, and trust in reputable brands. When the authorities take drastic action, genuine businesses like Tam Binh Pharmaceuticals maintain their "real" orientation, and consumers put their trust in the right place, the pharmaceutical market will gradually be purified, developing in a healthier and more transparent way.
