The event was held at the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. Thai Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Wiraka Moodhitaporn stressed that the event "is not intended to promote Thai cuisine but to demonstrate that preparing Thai dishes at home is completely possible and actually relatively easy."

Ms. Wiraka added that the menu selected for the Thai cooking tutorial includes stir-fried rice noodles (Padthai), coconut chicken soup (Tom Kha Kai) and crispy fried shrimp with tamarind sauce, representing some of the typical flavors of Thai cuisine.
On the first day of the event, about 40 students majoring in culinary and restaurant from Hoa Sen University and some chefs in Ho Chi Minh City participated. On the second day, about 60 people registered to participate, mainly from the diplomatic corps.
The cooking instructions for the three Thai dishes mentioned above on January 27 are Associate Professor Toroong Jarungidanan, a leading expert on Thai cuisine and founder of many famous Thai restaurants in Thailand.
