Storm warning signals have been issued across the Philippines, with Alert Level 5, the highest level, in effect for southeastern Luzon, including Catanduanes province and coastal areas of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and surrounding areas are under Alert Level 3.
Super Typhoon Fung-wong, with sustained winds of 185 km/h and gusts of up to 230 km/h, is forecast to make landfall in Aurora province in central Luzon as early as Sunday evening.

Some areas in Eastern Visayas have started experiencing power outages.
Several images shared by the Philippine Coast Guard in Camarines Sur showed evacuees carrying bags and personal belongings as they transferred from long, narrow passenger boats to waiting trucks during active evacuation operations.
According to the country's civil aviation authority, more than 300 domestic and international flights have been canceled.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), at 7:00 a.m. on November 9, the center of the storm was located at about 14.3 degrees North latitude; 124.9 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of the central region of the Philippines. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 15 (167-183 km/h), gusting to level 17. Moving in the West Northwest direction, at a speed of about 30 km/h.
