For more than a week now, Mr. Vo Quoc Hai in Yen Diem village (Loc Ha commune) and his fellow fishermen have had to stop production, their boats are stuck on the shore due to rough seas. But instead of complaining, he has taken the opportunity to reinforce the boat, patch two large nets, and renew the buoys marking the nets... to be ready to produce as soon as the opportunity arises.
Mr. Hai shared: “The past 3 months of continuous rain and storms have caused us many difficulties in production and limited living conditions. However, being used to this situation, people have proactively saved up resources, planned appropriate spending, and taken care of their health... In particular, the past 2 days have started to be sunny and warm, so we quickly went out to sea, making 2 trips a day, each trip catching 7-8 kg of shrimp and fish of all kinds. After deducting expenses, the income is nearly 800,000 VND/person/day.”

Mr. Nguyen Chi Thang (born in 1962, in Tam Hai 2 residential group, Hai Ninh ward) is eager for sea trips after days of being stuck on shore due to storms.
Mr. Thang said: “In recent months, the weather has been complicated, so production has been interrupted, and fishermen's income has been low. Now, the sea has begun to calm down, the weather has shown signs of stabilizing, and we are going out to sea again. Hopefully, after the turbulent days, the sea will have a lot of shrimp and fish, and the whole family will be happy.”

During the storm season, fishermen belonging to large-capacity fleets specializing in offshore fishing are the most heavily affected. However, they remain optimistic, patiently waiting and proactively adapting to the weather. Currently, many fishing boats of Ha Tinh fishermen with a length of over 12m and a capacity of over 90CV have begun to set sail again after many days of anchoring, bringing with them the hope of favorable and lucky sea trips.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dai - owner of ship HT 90438 (Dong Ha 1 village, Thach Ha commune) shared: "Normally, we go to sea 2-3 times a month, 7-10 days a trip, 30-40 nautical miles from shore. But entering the rainy and stormy season, people proactively cut down on sailing routes, reduce manpower, grasp the weather situation to go early to get ahead and proactively take shelter in time, maintain business relationships with partners supplying materials as well as consuming products...".

Since mid-August, Ha Tinh has continuously suffered three major natural disasters along with many other storms, big waves, and strong winds; these adverse factors are continuing to show prolonged signs.
In the face of this unavoidable situation, nearly 15,000 fishermen in the area still show their love for work, their desire to conquer the sea, and optimistically wait for new joys. During these calm sea days, they are rushing to go out to sea, flexibly responding to the weather to produce effectively and earn more income.

Mr. Than Quoc Te - Deputy Director of the Management Board of Fishing Ports and Fishing Boat Shelters in Ha Tinh informed: "Continuous rain and storms have made production and income of fishermen difficult, but people are always optimistic and proactively maintain a state of readiness to stay at sea. At this time, some boats have begun to leave the port.
To "support" fishermen, we have coordinated with other localities and functional forces to persistently remind and mobilize people to try to maintain production rhythm, pay attention to safety, comply with the Fisheries Law and are ready to help in all aspects.
