Recently, through understanding from medical facilities, the number of people infected with influenza A tends to increase, in particular, many students have had to stay home from school due to complications caused by influenza A.
At Ha Huy Tap Primary School (Thanh Sen Ward), in grade 4 alone, 17 students had influenza A and had to stay home from school.

Mr. Le Dinh Mao - Principal of the school said: "Through the survey, grade 4 has the largest number of students absent from school due to influenza A, mainly concentrated in grade 4B. This may be due to students coming into contact and spreading the disease to each other. The school quickly coordinated with the health station to organize propaganda and recommendations to all staff, teachers and students to proactively prevent it."
Not only at Ha Huy Tap Primary School, but recently, many schools have recorded an increase in cases of students having to stay home from school due to influenza A.
According to the Provincial General Hospital, in recent days, the number of patients coming to the clinic with symptoms of influenza A has tended to increase. On average, there are over 10 cases of influenza A coming to the clinic every day. The Infectious Diseases Department is currently treating over 10 patients with influenza A, most of whom are children. These are cases with complications that require hospitalization.

Dr. Dang Thi Ly - Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases said: "Through examination at the Examination Department, most patients have mild symptoms, so we prescribe and guide them on outpatient treatment. For cases with severe complications, they are quickly hospitalized for treatment. Although influenza A has mild symptoms, people should not be subjective. When there are symptoms of infection, they need to go to medical facilities for examination and timely treatment advice to avoid dangerous complications."
According to warnings from the health sector, influenza A is an acute infectious disease caused by the influenza virus, spreading rapidly through the respiratory tract, especially in changing weather conditions, humid environments and crowded places. Although most cases of influenza can recover on their own after 5-7 days, the disease can cause dangerous complications for people with underlying diseases, pregnant women, young children and the elderly.
Influenza A is a benign disease, but can also cause dangerous complications such as pneumonia, ear, nose and throat infections, or more serious complications such as pleural effusion, encephalitis, meningitis, myocarditis, and multiple organ failure. Common symptoms of influenza A include fever, headache, body aches, chills, cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, and fatigue. In children, it may be accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Dr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control said: To proactively respond to influenza A, the health sector is strengthening surveillance, early detection and timely handling of outbreaks. At the same time, it is stepping up propaganda to guide people on disease prevention measures such as: regularly washing hands with soap, wearing masks in public places, keeping the body warm, eating nutritious food and getting adequate rest.
When there are signs of suspected flu such as fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue..., people need to go to medical facilities for examination, consultation and timely treatment, avoid self-medication. At the same time, people are advised, especially high-risk groups, not to be subjective but need to get vaccinated against flu and take good personal preventive measures.
