President Putin spends 10 minutes in the cockpit of the Tu-160M strategic bomber

Russian President Vladimir Putin stepped into the cockpit of a Tu-160M strategic bomber during a tour of the Gorbunov Kazan aircraft plant in Tatarstan. It is understood that Putin spent 10 minutes in the cockpit and sat behind the steering wheel.
The Tu-160M strategic bomber was one of four aircraft Mr. Putin examined during a tour of the Gorbunov Kazan aviation plant.
The Russian President was also briefed on the plant's operations, production plans and recruitment.

Accompanying Mr. Putin were Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, who is also the Minister of Trade and Industry.
The delegation was also accompanied by Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov, United Aircraft Corporation CEO Yury Slyusar and Tatarstan leader Rustam Minnikhanov.
“He is a man who has done a lot for the country, for all of Russia,” said Mr. Putin.
These bombers are capable of carrying nuclear weapons and are part of Russia's nuclear triad.
After learning that the plane still had no name, the president suggested naming it after the first President of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiyev.
