Ukraine and Russia are preparing for a crucial and potentially decisive stage of the war, as Kiev prepares to launch a counterattack.
Mr Zelenskyy's office said he was invited to attend the Arab League summit in Jeddah, where he met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The two leaders discussed Mr Zelenskyy’s peace plan, the security situation in Ukraine and possible investments in the country’s reconstruction, a statement said. Mr Zelenskyy also invited Prince Mohammed to visit Ukraine.
He also called on leaders at the summit to consider his peace proposals, which include demanding that Russia withdraw its forces from occupied areas of Ukraine.
Mr. Zelenskyy is expected to attend the G7 Summit in Japan afterward, according to Oleksiy Danilov, Ukraine's Minister of Security and Defense.
However, Mr Danilov's office later posted a statement retracting his announcement and saying Mr Zelenskyy would appear at the G7 summit virtually. Mr Zelenskyy's plans were kept secret for security reasons.
