Spurs beat MU 1-0 in the final to lift the Europa League title, ending the North London team's 17-year title drought.

After the match, Australian strategist - Ange Postecoglou vowed that he wanted to stay at Tottenham because the job "is not finished yet".

However, chairman Daniel Levy decided to end the reign of this 59-year-old coach, due to the poor performance that Spurs showed in the 2024/25 Premier League.

A statement on the club's website read: "Postecoglou will always be remembered as the third manager in our history to win the European Cup, alongside the legendary Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.

However, the board agreed that the change was in the best interests of the club. After a positive start to the 2023/24 season, Tottenham have picked up just 78 points from their last 66 Premier League games.

That led to Spurs' worst result in the Premier League. Even though we won the Europa League, we cannot make an emotional judgment about this victory."

For his part, Coach Postecoglou shared about his two years working in North London: " When I think back to my time as Tottenham coach, my greatest feeling is pride.

The opportunity to manage one of the most storied clubs in the world and bring glory to Spurs is a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

The Bilbao night was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in the dream."
