Affirming that the Ho Chi Minh City Education and Training sector is a bright spot in the country, the leader of the City People's Committee said that the city's Education and Training sector has made efforts in terms of scale and quality, implementing the tasks of "Improving people's knowledge, training human resources, fostering talents", taking the lead in innovation, digital transformation, smart education, international integration, aiming to become an educational center of the region and the world .
Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that over the past 50 years, with the efforts of the entire system and the attention of the city's leaders, the city's education and training sector has achieved outstanding achievements.
According to Mr. Hieu, Ho Chi Minh City has invested in building a widespread school system. In particular, after the organization of the local government at two levels and the merger of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong, the target of 300 classrooms per 10,000 students was included in the Resolution of the first City Party Congress.
Another important point is the popularization of English among students, anticipating the Politburo's policy of gradually making English the second language in schools. In addition, the implementation of the digital transformation policy: Ho Chi Minh City has initiated investment in the "digital school" system with the goal of reaching 100 digital schools by 2025; but thanks to the efforts of educational institutions, the city has recognized 1,000 digital schools.
"Through the exhibition, the education and training sector hopes that students and teachers will look back at the development process from simple classrooms lacking desks, chairs and teaching aids to the effective eradication of illiteracy and remarkable development as it is today," Mr. Hieu emphasized.
