The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just issued a document requesting the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to soon approve the investment research project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Tat Thanh Street and build a new bridge to replace Tan Thuan 1 Bridge.

According to the proposal of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, it is expected that Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, 2.5 km long, will be expanded to 6-8 lanes, combined with the construction of an underpass at the intersection with Hoang Dieu Street with at least 4 lanes.

At the same time, build a new Tan Thuan 1 bridge to replace the existing bridge to meet the traffic needs connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with the southern region.

The total investment for construction of these items is expected to be 2,950 billion VND.

The Department of Construction proposed that the City People's Committee assign the Department of Finance to advise on the arrangement of capital for investment preparation, and assign the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to prepare for investment.

Regarding the expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, the Department of Planning and Architecture recently sent a dispatch to the Department of Finance proposing to expand this road towards Khanh Hoi Port.

The specific road boundary will be studied and proposed by the Department of Construction to ensure meeting infrastructure needs and synchronous connection with regional planning.

Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is the main artery connecting the city center with the South, so expanding this street will help reduce current traffic congestion.

For the Khanh Hoi Port land area of more than 31.5 hectares, the Department of Planning and Architecture proposed that about 60% of the land area (excluding the area of Nha Rong Wharf - Ho Chi Minh Museum and the national defense land) will be reserved for a multi-functional green park, combining public utilities and entertainment space.

The remaining land will be used for public works and international passenger port area.
