Ho Chi Minh City to start construction of Binh Thai intersection on Ring Road 2 at the end of December 2025

Binh Thai traffic intersection - the intersection between Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 2 and Vo Nguyen Giap Street - will start construction at the end of December 2025.

On October 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that the unit has submitted the construction drawing design to the Department of Construction for appraisal and is preparing to select a contractor to start construction of phase 1 of Ring Road 2 and Binh Thai intersection.

For section 1 of Ring Road 2 (from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street), the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved the investment policy since March 2025.

The route is 3.5 km long, with a scale of 6 - 8 lanes, with a total investment of 9,328 billion VND, of which site clearance costs account for 6,675 billion VND.

Currently, the Traffic Department has submitted to the Department of Construction for appraisal the design and construction drawings of package XL01 (road section).

It is expected that the design and estimate of this package will be approved before October 15, 2025, the contractor selection will be carried out in November and construction is expected to start at the end of November 2025.

The Binh Thai intersection with Vo Nguyen Giap Street (formerly Hanoi Highway) has a complete asterisk shape, including a steel bridge along Ring Road 2 crossing Vo Nguyen Giap Street, combined with a tunnel system on parallel routes to ensure continuous traffic.

Currently, the Traffic Department is urgently implementing the work of preparing, appraising and approving the construction drawing design, and at the same time preparing the steps to select the construction contractor. The construction of Binh Thai intersection is expected to start at the end of December 2025.

Recently, the Binh Thai intersection area has continuously experienced prolonged traffic jams, greatly affecting people's travel.
