Ho Chi Minh City: Announcing 50 outstanding events and activities, marking the journey of construction and development

On April 26, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to announce 50 outstanding events and activities, marking the proud 50-year journey of construction and development since the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

This is a series of 50 typical events and activities selected across many fields, reflecting the historical, political , economic and social milestones of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general in the period 1975 - 2025.

The 50-mark golden board includes: 14 political events, 2 defense - security events, 2 health events, 5 economic events, 2 historical - cultural events, 3 transportation events, 12 cultural - social events, 2 environmental events, 4 science - technology events, 2 education events, 1 foreign affairs event and 1 sports event.

Among them, many important milestones are mentioned such as: " Ho Chi Minh Campaign was completely victorious" (1975), "The 6th National Assembly decided to name Saigon - Gia Dinh as Ho Chi Minh City" (1976), "Establishment of Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone" (1991), "Establishment of Ho Chi Minh City National University" (1995), "Official operation of Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien" (2024)...

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le emphasized the importance of honoring these golden marks, not only as recognition of achievements but also as motivation for the city to continue developing.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, the city honored 50 outstanding literary and artistic works and 50 symbolic construction works, affirming that this is the crystallization of intelligence, passion and dedication of many generations.

Also within the framework of the event, 50 typical construction works/construction clusters were also honored through 3 careful selection rounds, in the fields of healthcare, civil - industry, culture - education, infrastructure - transportation and housing - urban areas. These are works associated with the image of Ho Chi Minh City, have been awarded many prestigious awards and have made great contributions to the development of the city and the whole country over the past 50 years.
