Ho Chi Minh City: Promoting year-end consumption with a series of promotional programs

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said it is coordinating with departments, branches and businesses to deploy many solutions to promote consumption at the end of the year; in which, the Shopping Season II program - 2025 starting from November 15 allows businesses to reduce prices by more than 50%, expanding incentives so that people have the opportunity to buy quality products at better prices.

On the afternoon of November 13, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Head of the Trade Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said that the total retail sales of goods in the first 10 months of 2025 in the City increased by about 15% over the same period, reaching the highest level in many years. This is a positive signal showing a strong recovery in purchasing power, contributing positively to economic growth and production and business activities of enterprises.

According to Mr. Hung, to maintain this growth momentum and continue to stimulate consumption, the Department is coordinating with departments, branches and businesses to deploy many synchronous solutions. One of the key activities is the Shopping Season II program - 2025, which will start from November 15. Accordingly, businesses are allowed to implement discount programs exceeding 50% as prescribed, creating conditions for people to buy quality products at great preferential prices.

At the same time, e-wallets also actively participate in promoting cashless payments, implementing many incentive packages with direct refunds when paying at promotional and discounted points of sale.

Technology car companies have simultaneously activated travel discount programs, contributing to helping people travel more conveniently during the peak shopping season at the end of the year.

A notable highlight of this Shopping Season is the “City Sale - Branded Goods” event, held simultaneously at Ben Thanh Metro Station, major shopping centers in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau areas. This is expected to create a vibrant shopping atmosphere throughout the new Ho Chi Minh City urban area, attracting a large number of people and tourists, thereby promoting consumption and promoting Vietnamese brands.

In addition, to promote sustainable shopping and environmentally friendly products, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung said that in December, Ho Chi Minh City will also launch the "Green Consumption - Responsibility Peak Month" at 12 major retail systems. The program aims to encourage businesses to introduce energy-saving, environmentally friendly products, while helping consumers access a rich source of Tet goods, quality and reasonable prices.

On the other hand, from December 19 to 21, Ho Chi Minh City will also coordinate to organize the 2025 Supply and Demand Connection Conference in Vung Tau City. The event brings together specialties, OCOP products and key goods from 21 provinces and cities with the participation of many leading retail corporations. The conference is considered an opportunity for local businesses to expand their markets, strengthen regional linkages and bring quality products to domestic consumers.

"With a series of stimulus activities implemented from now until the end of the year, Ho Chi Minh City hopes to maintain retail growth, create momentum for the goods market, contribute to supporting businesses and well meet people's shopping needs during the peak festival season and Tet 2026," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung.
