Faced with the situation of the water level of the Red River and Lo River rising to an alarming level, the Flood and Storm Prevention Command of Viet Tri City has requested localities along the river to implement a plan to evacuate people and property of households outside the dike at risk of flooding by the afternoon of September 10.
Duu Lau ward authorities used loudspeakers to propagate and mobilize people to evacuate people and property.
The communes and wards along the river are: Phuong Lau, Song Lo, Duu Lau, Bach Hac, some places are at risk of severe flooding. Local authorities are actively and urgently supporting people to evacuate people and property to safe places. On the morning of September 10, dozens of households living along the river in Zone 1, Song Lo commune were supported by local authorities to raise their properties to high places, move valuable properties and transport livestock from people's farms out of the flooded area. In Zone 1, Phuong Lau commune, there are more than 100 households living outside the dike. This morning, nearly ten households have moved people and property to the commune's gathering place. The remaining households have houses as high as the dike, moving their properties to the 2nd and 3rd floors to avoid flooding.
In particular, at Group 12, Zone 1, Duu Lau Ward, there are 46 households living right next to the foot of Vinh Phu Bridge (the old ferry terminal area) - this is an area predicted to be at risk of flooding after the water rises and flows rapidly. The government and functional forces have propagated, mobilized and supported people to move out of the area; including many elderly people who have been mobilized to temporarily move to the Ward Health Station... Although the functional forces have propagated and supported the relocation of assets and people... many households are still subjective in the face of storms and floods and have not moved.
Support people in zone 12, Duu Lau ward to move assets.
People living close to the river are moving their belongings.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tam - Head of the Economic Department of Viet Tri City said: The City's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue is ready to deploy plans and solutions for dike protection and flood response according to the "4 on-site" motto. Along with that, the organization is on duty 24/24 hours, closely monitoring the developments of floods and storms, ensuring smooth communication; readying forces and means to promptly respond when situations arise.
Many households are still subjective about storms and floods and have not moved, despite being warned by local authorities.
