TPO - During the weekend, Ho Chi Minh City will have strong sunshine and low humidity, making the air outside hot and dry. The meteorological agency forecasts that unseasonal thunderstorms will appear from March 16 to 17.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (March 14), the Southern region will be cloudy, sunny during the day, hot in some places; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. The lowest temperature will be from 23 - 26 degrees Celsius, the highest from 32 - 35 degrees Celsius, some places will be over 35 degrees Celsius.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the day is extremely hot, with the highest temperature likely to reach 36 degrees Celsius. The ultraviolet (UV) index is very high (from 10 to 11), potentially causing harm to health if exposed directly to sunlight for a long time.
Although it is hot and sunny during the day, the possibility of showers and localized thunderstorms increases in the evening. People should be on guard against sudden changes in the weather.

Meanwhile, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the continental cold high pressure (cold air) is continuing to weaken and change. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis through the Central region is operating stably.
In the coming days, the low pressure trough connecting to the western low pressure area with an axis at about 23 - 26 degrees North latitude will be compressed and gradually filled by the cold continental high pressure in the North. From the afternoon and night of March 15, the cold air will strengthen to the South. Above, the subtropical high pressure will have little change in intensity after weakening and gradually withdrawing to the East. From about March 16, the western branch of the subtropical high pressure will develop and establish a divergence field over the Northern region.
“Beware of strong sunshine and low humidity, which will make the air outside hot and dry, and unseasonal thunderstorms on March 16-17,” the Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecast.
Experts recommend: Limit outdoor activities between 10am and 4pm to minimize the harmful effects of UV rays.
If you must go out, use protective measures such as sunscreen, long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses; also, bring an umbrella or raincoat in case of sudden thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
