The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has just sent a document to agencies and units in the aviation industry to focus on responding to the risks of heavy rain, landslides, flash floods and proactively preventing natural disasters in the coming time.
According to the document of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in order to proactively respond to low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions, with the risk of heavy rain, landslides, flash floods, and inundation in the coming time, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires agencies and units in the aviation industry to organize 24/24-hour duty according to regulations; strictly implement the Storm and Tropical Depression Response Procedure in civil aviation activities.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests Van Don International Airport and airports under the Vietnam Airports Corporation to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system, etc. to promptly detect and handle damages (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure the safety of operations at airports.
Agencies and units need to arrange 24/7 duty, proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.
For the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, the Department directs aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor the weather situation in the area of responsibility, update forecasts and warnings; provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.
For airports, airlines, and flight operation service providers, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires units to strengthen coordination; closely monitor developments in low pressure areas, rain and flood situations to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly in some localities directly affected and ensure safety for flight operations.
In addition, it is necessary to fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological agencies and base on the actual situation to deploy necessary response actions, minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, and protect people and property of the unit from natural disasters.
At the same time, deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow in airports, protect works, vehicles and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.
For the Airport Authorities to supervise the implementation of response contents at relevant airports; ensure smooth communication with the PCTT&TKCN Command Board of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and relevant agencies and units within the scope of responsibility to deploy response in all situations.
