Director Hoang Vu shared: “The judges and I really had a headache choosing, because the young people participating in the casting all had similar looks and good acting skills. Huy Khanh and Tuong Vi were very dedicated and wholeheartedly supported in finding outstanding faces. In addition to the professional advisory board, the film crew also carefully prepared the music . This helped the actors have emotions and depth, some even cried sobbingly in their roles.”
On social media, the casting of Thien Nhan and Lu Xuan Mai's kissing scene was widely shared because of its authenticity. According to the story, the two did not know each other, only talked and practiced their lines backstage for about 5 minutes.
“The kiss was not in the script. Thanks to the stage and music, I was able to drift off and act with real emotions. Luckily, my co-stars were willing to interact and coordinate well,” Thien Nhan shared. Meanwhile, Lu Xuan Mai was “shocked” because her performance received mixed opinions. However, the actress felt satisfied because she had given her all.

According to Tuong Vi, the casting session reminded her of her first time participating in a casting with a confused look. According to her, actors with or without experience will all feel nervous when participating in an audition.
“I feel that standing in front of a professional camera is less nerve-wracking than in front of a casting lens. So I have supported you all the way to help you be less nervous and complete the casting well” - Tuong Vi shared.
Meanwhile, Huy Khanh could not avoid feeling pressured because the young actors today are quite talented and express their emotions flexibly. Sometimes he posed difficult situations but many actors solved the knots delicately and appropriately.
“I think such carefully invested casting sessions are very necessary. This is the place to search for and discover new factors for the country's cinema. Many people have talent but do not know how to develop it. If they are trained further, they will become bright gems,” said Huy Khanh.
“Em dep em co quyen” revolves around the impact of social networks, where people are controlled by algorithms, deepfake (technology using artificial intelligence) is rampant and personal images are distorted by the crowd's gaze. The film is expected to start filming in 2025 after completing the casting process.
