Khanh Hoa has 2 more national intangible cultural heritages

The knowledge of exploiting and processing agarwood and the Bird's Nest Festival of Khanh Hoa province have been included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

On June 3, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, said that 2 heritages of Khanh Hoa province have been included in the List of national intangible cultural heritages by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Specifically, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued two decisions to register heritages in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List, for the traditional festival of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival and Knowledge of exploiting and processing agarwood in Khanh Hoa.

Thus, up to now, the cultural heritage system in Khanh Hoa province has 6 national intangible cultural heritages, including: Ponagar Tower Festival; Cau Ngu Festival; Raglai people's grave abandonment ceremony; Knowledge of exploiting and processing bird's nests; Bird's nest festival; Knowledge of exploiting and processing agarwood.

Khanh Hoa is a land known as "Land of Agarwood - Sea of ​​Bird's Nest". The bird's nest industry in this locality has been recorded for nearly 700 years, containing unique, distinctive historical and cultural values ​​and is very important to the people, as well as the socio -economic development of the locality.

The bird's nest festival is one of the traditional festivals of Khanh Hoa people. Every year on the 10th day of the 5th lunar month, people hold a festival at Hon Noi bird's nest island to commemorate the great merits of the ancestors who founded and developed the bird's nest industry.

The profession of exploiting and processing agarwood is also one of the most typical traditional occupations of the local people. The profession has existed for hundreds of years, the most famous of which is in Van Thang commune, Van Ninh district. From the crude pieces of agarwood exploited from nature or from Do Bau trees, through the talented hands and patience of the craftsmen, they are crafted into sophisticated and diverse products, from agarwood landscapes, fine art, jewelry to spiritual products.
