Tran Yen maintains over 12,000 hectares of organic cinnamon area

Up to now, Tran Yen district has maintained a cinnamon production area of ​​over 20,000 hectares, of which over 12,000 hectares are concentrated in organic cultivation; 4,433 hectares of area will meet international standards and domestic standards in 2024. Cinnamon production areas are mainly concentrated in the communes of Tan Dong, Dao Thinh, Viet Thanh, Hoa Cuong, Minh Quan and Kien Thanh.

Developing organic cinnamon growing areas according to the value chain in Tran Yen not only helps increase people's income but also creates products that meet international standards, opening up sustainable export opportunities. At the same time, this model also contributes to changing production thinking, helping people to be more proactive in protecting the environment and increasing the value of cinnamon trees.
According to the district's annual estimate, the output of dry cinnamon bark is about 5,000 tons, cinnamon branches and leaves are over 22,000 tons, cinnamon wood output is over 50,000 m3, cinnamon essential oil output is 45 tons, and income is over 400 billion VND/year. In particular, many localities have built organic cinnamon production areas; linked cinnamon production according to the value chain between cinnamon growing households with cooperatives (HTX), enterprises in processing and consuming cinnamon products.
Currently, the district has 4 cooperatives building a sustainable chain of purchasing and processing cinnamon products such as: Hoai Cinnamon Cooperative, Khanh Thanh Cinnamon Cooperative, Kien Thanh General Service Cooperative, Hong Ca General Service Cooperative, linking production and exporting cinnamon products to major markets such as: China, EU, Japan, USA and India.
In addition to increasing the value of cinnamon trees, Tran Yen district also focuses on developing multi-purpose forestry for economic , social and environmental sustainability; focusing on developing large timber forests with high economic value; attracting and encouraging businesses to invest in developing high-quality forest product processing. Thereby, contributing to improving the efficiency of forest care, protection and development; planting new and replacing 2,900 hectares/year; maintaining a forest cover rate of 70%; striving for a large timber forest area of ​​5,500 hectares by the end of 2025.
