From March 29 to March 31, at the Bat Trang Ceramic Museum, the Romanian Embassy in Vietnam will organize a photo exhibition "Constantin Brancusi, pioneer of modernism".
The exhibition is held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Romania (1950-2025). It introduces 35 photos by photographer Sorin Vasilescu, recording the works of famous Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi.

Constantin Brancusi was born in 1876 and is a Romanian sculptor - one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century. He is known as the "father" of modern sculpture.
Brancusi explored new forms of abstraction in his works. His style was completely new in the art world at that time. He not only pioneered a new three-dimensional sculpture but also redefined modernist sculpture.
Brancusi's sources of inspiration ranged from his legendary French sculptor and teacher Auguste Rodin to Romanian architecture and African and Asian artistic traditions. He often reduced figures to their simplest visual expressions.

One of his main body of work is the “Bird in Space” series – simple abstractions depicting a bird in flight. These works are based on his earlier “Maiastra” series. In Romanian folklore, Maiastra is a beautiful golden bird that is said to predict the future and heal the blind.
Brancusi died in 1957. He left behind 1,200 photographs and 215 sculptures. In 2015, the Romanian Parliament declared February 19th Brancusi Day.
