Recently, authorities have simultaneously handled violations in the production of goods, especially those identified as counterfeit goods, which have received attention and high appreciation from consumers and businesses.

Protecting legitimate businesses

Cracking down on counterfeit, fake, and poor-quality goods is a major campaign that has been intensified by authorities and localities in recent times. On November 5, authorities launched an investigation into the production and trade of counterfeit goods at EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company. Along with many other cases across the country such as the case of Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan (DJ Ngan 98) and Luong Bang Quang; Hai Sen's family; or cases related to products such as fake milk, Kera candy, fire extinguishers, etc., it proves that the problem of counterfeit, fake, and poor-quality goods still infiltrates people's lives every day.

The continuous occurrence of counterfeit and poor quality products shows that if there is no regulation, the market will develop in a distorted way. According to experts, Vietnam currently has a fast economic growth rate, a large market with more than 100 million people. As the domestic market grows larger and larger, there are also many loopholes for counterfeit and fake goods to increase, creating complexity. In addition, the development of technology, especially e-commerce, has created a number of problems related to law violations, especially the problem of counterfeit goods, counterfeit goods, goods that infringe intellectual property rights and goods of unknown origin.

This situation not only causes serious damage to consumers and legitimate businesses, but also negatively affects market confidence, the investment environment and causes loss of state budget revenue; therefore, it needs to be rectified to protect legitimate producers and consumers.

In addition to the functional forces performing the task of state management, cracking down on counterfeit goods, as well as the State issuing solutions to limit this situation, businesses also need to proactively protect their brands. One of the current solutions is to increase the level of recognition of intellectual property of products. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tu Diep Cong Thanh, Director of the Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer (IPTC), Ho Chi Minh City National University, intellectual property is very important for businesses, especially when Vietnam is strongly integrating into the world economy. Although businesses have made efforts, in general, the attention to intellectual property is mainly in the design of packaging, labels, and designs. These limitations need to change in the direction of paying more attention to technological factors, products with high intellectual content and creativity to enhance the brand; at the same time, better protect their products against the risk of counterfeiting.

According to the National Steering Committee on Anti-Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods, in the third quarter of 2025, through the prevention and combat work of functional forces, the whole country discovered, arrested and handled more than 31,000 cases, collecting more than 3.6 trillion VND for the budget; 462 cases were prosecuted with 915 related subjects.

Businesses expect many changes

The authorities' crackdown on counterfeit goods creates opportunities for businesses to operate transparently and honestly. The Linh One Member Co., Ltd. (Ho Nai Industrial Park) specializes in manufacturing blankets, sheets, pillows, and mattresses. Currently, the company's products are widely distributed throughout the provinces from Ca Mau to Quang Ngai, with more than 1,000 agents and distribution stores. This helps the company respond quickly and promptly to consumer needs, ensuring that products are always available where needed.

According to Mr. Pham The Linh, Director of the company, in recent years, the company has tried to invest in diversified production of products to serve customers. Positive feedback from customers is a great source of motivation to help the company maintain sustainable development. In fact, in the past, the company also suffered losses due to another unit copying its products and it took a long time to handle. Therefore, with more transparency of the market, it will create conditions for businesses with their own brands and products to have a better chance in conquering customers.

Similarly, Domilk Joint Stock Company (Long Thanh Commune) is a manufacturer of confectionery products made from cow's milk. The company is currently in the process of expanding production, cooperating with farmers in Dong Nai and other localities to build its raw material areas. Mr. Vu Nhu Y, Deputy Director of Domilk Joint Stock Company, shared: After a difficult period due to the impact of the epidemic and the decline of the tourism market, the company's production is now recovering well. According to Mr. Y, one of the advantages is that recently, the authorities have stepped up the elimination of counterfeit and fake goods, so consumers are more interested in safe, quality products and that is an opportunity for businesses to develop products.

Not only manufacturers but also trading units hope for a healthy market. The owner of a business store in Tran Bien ward shared: Although the market is still difficult, the facility still prioritizes importing goods from large units to have invoices and documents of origin. This is very necessary to join forces to create a healthy and sustainable business environment.
