North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned that he would use all the offensive forces at his disposal, including nuclear weapons, to respond to any attacks from outside.
The remarks came after South Korea held a military parade earlier this week, during which South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol threatened to "end the North Korean regime" if Pyongyang uses nuclear weapons, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
The latest war of words comes weeks after North Korea released images of a uranium enrichment facility for the first time, showing leader Kim Jong Un touring the site and calling for more centrifuges to be produced to boost the North's nuclear arsenal.
Relations between North and South Korea are at their lowest point in years, with North Korea recently announcing the deployment of 250 ballistic missile launchers to its southern border. Pyongyang has declared North Korea an “irreversible” nuclear weapons power.
