More than 70 forces from business units and the Provincial Journalists Association planted sea grape trees to prevent coastal erosion in Thanh Phong commune, Thanh Phu district.
This is the second consecutive year that the Provincial Journalists Association has coordinated with Behn Meyer Vietnam Co., Ltd. to organize this meaningful activity in the province. This year, the program mobilized more than 70 forces, including officers and employees from implementing units, to plant 1,300 sea grape trees, with an area of about 1 hectare on the coast of Thanh Phong commune. The planting costs were 100% invested by the coordinating units.
Sea grape is a large tree with a dense canopy, often planted along the coast to block the wind. The leaves are round, heart-shaped, long, with entire edges. Sea grape fruits grow in long clusters like bunches of grapes, and can be eaten. In addition, sea grapes also have many uses in medicine such as treating dysentery, diarrhea, and skin wounds.
Director of Ben Tre Province's Protection and Special-Use Forest Management Board Bui Quoc Thong awarded tree planting certificates to participating units.
According to Mr. Bui Quoc Thong - Director of the Management Board of Protective and Special-use Forests of Ben Tre province, the Board was very excited to connect units to participate in forest planting on the coast of Thanh Phu district. This activity has the meaning of connecting and accompanying the locality to protect the forest environment, prevent landslides, coastal erosion and respond to climate change.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thong expressed: "Hopefully in the near future, the units will have the opportunity to return to the province to review the results in the growing areas and continue to implement meaningful programs for a green Ben Tre and for a green Vietnam."
