Within 20 days, nearly 42,000 cases of pink eye

Quang Nam Health Department recommends localities to increase surprise inspections of drug retail establishments.

Quang Nam Department of Health has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities, and medical facilities in the province regarding continued coordination in the control, prevention, treatment, and admission of pink eye.
According to the Quang Nam Department of Health, the incidence of pink eye (acute conjunctivitis) continues to increase nationwide.
In Quang Nam, according to statistics, within 20 days (from September 1 to September 20), there were about 41,800 cases, of which 12,800 cases of acute conjunctivitis came to medical examination and treatment facilities; from September 18 to now, the number of cases came to medical facilities for examination and treatment was 1,877, of which 300 cases were examined and treated at Quang Nam Eye Hospital.
In the face of the outbreak of pink eye, to avoid complacency and negligence in the community, the Department of Health recommends that the People's Committees of localities in the province continue to focus on directing relevant departments/units to increase surprise inspections of drug retail establishments; promptly detect and handle cases of price increases, especially paying attention to the prices of eye drops, establishments advertising unprofessional treatment, not to affect security and social order.
Instruct the local Health Center to compile statistics on cases of pink eye in the local community and report weekly to the Department of Health. In addition, assign the Eye Hospital to preside over online training on the diagnosis and treatment of pink eye for medical facilities in the area before September 23.
Assign the Provincial Center for Disease Control to strengthen direction and professional guidance in monitoring, investigating, and handling cases and outbreaks of pink eye. Strengthen monitoring, early detection, and timely handling of outbreaks of pink eye in the area. Issue guidelines for implementing anti-infection measures in kindergartens, schools, agencies, enterprises, and the community. Strengthen communication so that people understand measures to prevent and control pink eye, proactively protect the health of their families and communities, etc.
