On August 1, authorities successfully rescued eight people in Anh Trung village, Muong Hung commune ( Son La province) from an area isolated by floods.

Earlier, at around 3:00 p.m. the same day, the Combat Force of Military Region 2 received a report that 8 people in Anh Trung village, Muong Hung commune were completely isolated in the flood area.
Immediately after receiving the notice, the Department of Rescue and Relief (General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army) coordinated with the Air Defense - Air Force Service and the 18th Army Corps to urgently deploy a plan to use rescue helicopters. The helicopter numbered VN-8624 was ordered to take off at 15:54 to fly to the isolated village area.
At around 5:30 p.m. the same day, all 8 people were approached by the flight crew and brought to safety, ending the rescue operation in complex weather conditions and rugged terrain.
On August 1, Son La province recorded heavy to very heavy rain over a wide area. Many locations recorded rainfall exceeding 100 mm, such as in Sam Kha commune at 134.4 mm, Pung Banh commune at nearly 100 mm, and Muong Lan 2 commune at 94.4 mm.
Faced with complicated weather developments, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province signed a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency due to heavy rain, flash floods, landslides and subsidence occurring in July and early August.
Accordingly, a series of communes in the seriously affected area are listed, including Huoi Mot, Bo Sinh, Muong Lan, Chieng So, Nam Ty, Song Ma, Chieng Khoong, Chieng Khuong (belonging to the old Song Ma district), Sop Cop commune (old Sop Cop district), Tan Yen commune (old Moc Chau town), Mai Son commune (old Mai Son district), Nam Lau commune (old Thuan Chau district).
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province requested communes to immediately deploy urgent measures to prevent and combat natural disasters such as deploying security forces at landslide-prone areas, placing warning signs, evacuating people from dangerous areas, preparing temporary shelters, ensuring food, clean water and medicine for affected people. In particular, absolutely do not let people return to areas that have been warned of risks.
