China crushed at volleyball world championship

Despite being the host, China still could not withstand the overwhelming strength of Iran, in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Men's U21 Volleyball World Championship.

In men's volleyball, Iran are considered the top force in Asia and have reached world class level in recent years. China are unlucky to face them, after beating Japan in the round of 16.

Iran even won the U21 World Cup in 2019 and 2023, and entered this year's tournament as defending champions.

Compared to the previous generations, the current young stars of the Iranian men's volleyball team are still very strong. They completely dominate China.

The first game was quite exciting as China chased Iran point by point. However, the Chinese blockers played ineffectively, not even able to score any points from blocking.

In contrast, Iran won five blocks, mostly at crucial moments, to win 25-21 in the first set.

The next two games were one-sided, Iran completely dominated and won 25-16, 25-15 in games 2 and 3 respectively, thereby ending the match quickly.

This is an extremely disappointing result for China as they are the host of the tournament. This year's World Men's U21 Volleyball Championship took place in Jiangmen (Guangdong).

Earlier, the US defeated France 3-2 in the first quarter-final, while the Czech Republic also defeated Poland 3-1. The final quarter-final was between Cuba and Italy.
