Right from the beginning of the hot season, at the Yen Lac District Medical Center, the number of patients coming to see a doctor for diseases caused by the severe hot weather has not shown any signs of increasing, but the center has proactively deployed professional measures, directed departments, offices and health stations in communes and towns to promote propaganda and healtheducation on prevention and control of the harmful effects of heat, heat stroke, summer diseases and diseases that are at risk of outbreak. At the same time, it has created the most favorable conditions for people to come to see a doctor in the upcoming hot days.
The Center's Board of Directors has assigned the Department of Public Health to direct the staff in charge of communications to coordinate with the Department of Communications and Health Education of the Provincial Center for Disease Control; the District Center for Culture - Information - Sports ; and commune and town health stations in the district to strengthen communications and provide guidance on health care during the hot season for the community, staff and workers.
Propaganda work is carried out in many forms such as through the grassroots radio system, on electronic information pages, social networking platforms and direct communication sessions in the community to disseminate basic knowledge on handling and preventing some common health problems during the hot season.
At the same time, medical staff of the center, commune and town health stations in the area guide people to take simple and easy-to-remember disease prevention measures such as drinking enough water, wearing cool clothes, limiting going outdoors in hot sunlight, eating cooked food, drinking boiled water, maintaining personal hygiene and a clean living environment, etc. People are also advised to monitor their health regularly to promptly go to a medical facility when there are unusual signs.
To ensure proactive health care for people during the hot season, when the number of patients coming for examination and treatment tends to increase, the District Health Center has proactively checked and maintained the electrical system, air conditioners, fans, and sunshades in patient rooms and hallways where patients are waiting, ensuring a cool space for people when coming for examination and treatment.
Flexible arrangement of permanent human resources, increase the number of examination and consultation tables in areas with high patient concentration during peak hours; quickly handle work, minimize patient waiting time; fully equip medicine, hospital beds, and emergency equipment to promptly handle common emergency cases caused by hot weather.
Doctor CKII Nguyen Hoang Phuong, Director of Yen Lac District Medical Center said: "To help patients feel comfortable and secure during the hot summer, along with strengthening the fan system, providing enough electricity and water for patients' daily life, the center has thoroughly instructed all staff to create the most favorable conditions for people when coming to see a doctor and receive treatment.
Crowded locations such as in front of the clinic, waiting areas for examination, waiting for results... are equipped with additional high-capacity industrial fans; when patients enter the department or room, the room must be clean and airy, shortening the treatment time. At the same time, the center regularly propagates and advises patients to maintain their health during the hot season, ensure a reasonable diet, drink enough water, supplement with fruits and vitamins, and maintain personal hygiene to protect the health of themselves and their families.
To proactively prevent diseases in the hot season, health experts recommend that people should limit going out in the hot sun when not really necessary. If you have to go out in the hot sun, you should wear a hat, clothes, glasses, masks... to protect yourself from the heat; drink plenty of water, especially outdoor workers who lose a lot of water should drink lemon juice or diluted salt water, water mixed with Oresol to replenish electrolytes.
Do not drink too much ice water or water that is too cold as it can easily cause sore throat; do not let the air conditioner temperature in the room differ too much from the outside temperature as it can easily cause heat shock; do not let the fan blow directly on the body; eat cooked food, boiled water, ensure food hygiene and safety; increase nutrition, eat more fruit to ensure enough vitamins to help increase the body's resistance; improve personal hygiene, wash hands often with soap, especially before preparing food, before eating, after going to the toilet.
For young children, parents need to take them to get all the necessary vaccinations on schedule; ensure regular hygiene for children such as washing hands with soap before eating and after using the toilet; limit children from going outside when the temperature is too high...
When there are signs of abnormal health or heatstroke, you need to go to a medical facility immediately for examination and timely treatment, avoid using medicine at home on your own, which can be dangerous to your health and difficult to treat.
