Cambodian naturalized midfielder wears mask to play against Vietnam

On the evening of March 18, Kan Mo had a practice session at Binh Duong Stadium with the Cambodian team. During the first 15 minutes of warm-up, Kan Mo did not wear a face mask.

When it comes to playing football and practicing, the South African midfielder puts on a mask. The mask covers 2/3 of Kan Mo's face from the nose up, along with 2 straps wrapped around his head.

A member of the Cambodian team said Kan Mo has had to wear a protective mask since he suffered a serious injury in a loss to Singapore at the 2024 ASEAN Cup last December.

The collision caused the player born in 1992 to need 10 stitches and rest for a while to recover. Occasionally, Kan Mo still wears a mask when playing with Visakha FC in the Cambodian league.

Kan Mo has been wearing a mask for nearly three months now. Fans of Visakha Club and the Cambodian national team are gradually getting used to the new identity of naturalized center-back Mohammed Faeez Khan.

It is likely that in the friendly match with the Vietnamese team, Kan Mo continued to use a mask to protect himself. This is because this is a match with a high level of collision.

Kan Mo was the player who attended the press conference with coach Koji Gyotoku on March 18. He expressed his respect for the Vietnamese team but was still determined to play well to find victory for Cambodia.

In the last 5 meetings between the two teams, the Vietnamese team won all of them. The match took place on the evening of March 19 at Binh Duong Stadium, a friendly match of FIFA Days in March.
