Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Chairman of the National Economics University Council became Chairman of the National Economics University Council. Professor, Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, Rector of the National Economics University became Director of the National Economics University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that from now on, the name National Economics University will replace National Economics University. The only difference is the omission of the first word in the name, but it paves the way for the word “Dai” to come first and help the school move towards “Dai” in all aspects.

According to the Minister, the difference between “university” and “university” is not in size. Universities can also develop on a very large scale, with high-quality and internationally-standard research and training results.

“The importance of a university lies in its large internal structure, which requires high levels of management capacity and skills. A university allows for autonomy and dynamism. Autonomy can be implemented down to the lowest level and to professional groups and scientists . If the organizational model design does not aim to unleash creativity from within, the model transformation will not bring much value,” said the Minister.

In the development orientation in the coming time, according to the Minister, the National Economics University needs to move towards a reasonable multidisciplinary structure, multidisciplinary but still promoting advantages, strengths and traditional strengths. Multidisciplinary does not mean that everything others do, we also do. "We should not deviate from our main goals and missions. The identity and brand of the school need to continue and promote in the new organizational model", said the Minister.

In addition, for teachers in the leadership team, the change of name from principal to director is not just a change in name but requires a new vision and new management thinking to suit the management object which is different from before in terms of scale and nature.

Regarding organization, each school, unit, and internal organization needs to have a suitable autonomy mechanism, with its own functions and tasks, without duplication, and must be an indispensable organic part, creating the whole of a complete and strong university.

According to Minister Nguyen Kim Son, the country is urgently, actively and determinedly developing cutting-edge technology and engineering sectors, new technologies, hoping to catch up with advanced countries. However, if technology develops and production develops, but the fields of administration, business, and economic management policies from macro to micro are not advanced and cannot keep up with the world , the effectiveness of efforts in technology and engineering will not bring about effective development for the country, and economic risks will even increase. This is like a clumsy person using a tool that is too sharp.

From there, the Minister said that for other universities, scientific products are inventions, transferred scientific and technological products, prestigious scientific publications, and have a global impact. For the National Economics University, very important products are policy advice, policy solutions, models, and national management methods with economic components, from the central to local levels and enterprises. Along with that, educating students in school about corporate culture and entrepreneurship.

The Minister also noted that one of the immediate tasks for the school is to review and complete the development strategy based on the major guidelines, orientations and policies of the Party, State, Government and the Education sector, to fully exploit the advantages to grow rapidly in a new governance model. The Ministry of Education and Training will have appropriate support and supervision mechanisms to create the best conditions for the National Economics University to develop.

Also at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, Director of the National Economics University, said that the transition to a university model affirms the special position of the National Economics University in higher education in Vietnam.

With the establishment of 3 schools: School of Economics and Public Management, School of Business, School of Technology, National Economics University has made a great change, demonstrating its strategic vision, becoming a smart, modern university, a center for training and nurturing talents, a workplace for leading experts in training, research on economics, business management and technology application, and the highest priority choice for excellent students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong emphasized that, moving towards a new stage, in the spirit of promoting core values, the school continues to focus on comprehensive development in teaching, scientific research and international cooperation. The combination of scientific research and practical application will be enhanced, contributing to solving socio-economic problems, especially in the context of digital transformation and increasingly deep international integration.

The National Economics University is also committed to always focusing on improving the quality of human resources through improving the curriculum, updating the latest trends in the fields of economics, management and advanced technology in the world. At the same time, it aims to build an open academic environment, encouraging creativity and innovation, helping students not only learn knowledge but also practice practical skills to become excellent global citizens.

National Economics University is the 9th university in Vietnam, along with Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Duy Tan University. In which, Duy Tan University is the first private university in our country.
