Since October 9th, information has been circulating on social media claiming that during the recent floods, many students at the dormitory of Thai Nguyen University of Education were isolated and without electricity, while the dormitory canteen prevented the acceptance of charitable meals and sold rice for 30,000 VND per serving.

Associate Professor Tu Quang Tan stated: Currently, the school has requested the Provincial Police and relevant agencies to verify and strictly handle (if any) those involved, to prevent any negative impact on the school and its students.

On the morning of October 10th, in an interview with Tien Phong Newspaper , Associate Professor Dr. Tu Quang Tan - Vice Rector of the University of Education - stated that upon receiving the information on social media, the university immediately conducted verification and investigation.

"The results show that on the morning of October 8th, when the central area of Thai Nguyen City, including the University of Education, was deeply flooded, at around 9 am, someone came to the school saying they wanted to donate about 100 meals and would bring them in two hours," Mr. Tan said.

According to Associate Professor Tan, at the school, not only during rainy and flood days but also on normal days, many organizations request sponsorship, place advertisements, or promote products and food. The school has an "unwritten rule": only accepting support from organizations with clear documentation, legal food sources, and guaranteed food safety and hygiene. Organizations with unclear information or lacking documentation will not be accepted.

“In the incident on the morning of October 8th, the dormitory manager was concerned about food safety. However, because they couldn't contact the school administration, they refused. I think the manager handled the situation rather rigidly. After this incident, we will take corrective action against the food supplier and the relevant staff,” Associate Professor Tan added.

He also stated that during the recent heavy rains and floods, most of the school grounds were deeply submerged. On October 7th, the school sent staff and lecturers to guide students in moving their belongings from the first floor to the second and third floors to ensure safety. At the same time, the school coordinated with organizations such as the Red Cross and the Women's Union to receive official support, ranging from meals and instant noodles to essential supplies, to distribute to students.

Associate Professor Dr. Tu Quang Tan affirmed that there is no truth to the rumor that the school's cafeteria increased the price by 50,000 VND per meal. According to him, the current meal provider is the contractor that won the contract to supply meals to the school for the period 2020-2025. The maximum price stipulated is 30,000 VND per meal, and this unit is strictly adhering to that regulation.
