On the morning of June 6, doctors at Truong Sa Town Medical Center, Truong Sa District, Khanh Hoa Province received and successfully treated patient Vo Sy Danh (born in 1981) in a state of severe pain in the left lumbar region, accompanied by symptoms of painful urination and mild fever.
Mr. Danh, a permanent resident of Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province, is a crew member on fishing boat QNa 91577-TS of fishermen from Quang Nam province, fishing in the Truong Sa fishing ground.
According to the patient's declaration, from around 5:00 a.m. on June 6, he began to experience pain in his left lower back, which gradually increased and did not subside despite using painkillers.
The pain seriously affected the patient's ability to walk and work, forcing him to be transferred to Truong Sa Island for timely emergency treatment.
At the emergency clinic, the patient was alert, responsive, had a low fever, severe pain in the left lumbar region, slightly distended abdomen, and stable pulse and blood pressure indicators.
Through paraclinical tests including abdominal ultrasound, biochemical and hematological tests, military doctors diagnosed the patient with left renal colic due to ureteral stones, accompanied by grade 1 renal pelvis dilation and urinary tract infection.
Doctors used pain relief, smooth muscle relaxants, intravenous fluids, and antibiotics to control infection and relieve symptoms.
Although he was out of danger, Mr. Danh was advised by doctors to stay on the island for further treatment and monitoring of the risk of acute kidney injury and impaired kidney function.
Since the beginning of the year, Truong Sa Town Medical Center has continuously received and treated many cases of fishermen who, while fishing in Truong Sa fishing grounds, suddenly fell ill or had work accidents or suffered decompression sickness due to deep diving.
Most recently, on May 25, Truong Sa Town Medical Center provided emergency care and effective treatment to patient Vo Tan Nuoc (born in 1969, a crew member on fishing boat BD 98967-TS of Binh Dinh province) with a diagnosis of left renal colic, grade 2 renal pelvis dilation, urinary tract infection and hypertension.
Previously, in early April, fisherman Pham Anh (53 years old, residing in Quang Ngai province) collided with a basket boat on a fishing boat, causing a large wound to the head and unconsciousness, and was taken to the emergency room at Truong Sa town Medical Center.
After a week of emergency treatment and dedicated care by doctors, Mr. Anh recovered and was handed over to the captain of fishing boat QNg 95255-TS to be brought back to the mainland./.
