Doan Ket High School reduces admission scores for grade 10 in Hanoi in 2024
On the evening of July 1, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the benchmark scores for grade 10 admission in 2024 for nearly 106,000 candidates who registered for the exam this year. Nine high schools kept their benchmark scores the same and 55 schools lowered their benchmark scores compared to 2023.
Among the 55 schools that lowered their scores, one school attracted attention when its benchmark score dropped "shockingly". That was Doan Ket High School, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi, which dropped 16.25 points, from 40 points to 23.75 points.

Speaking to Dan Viet newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hai, principal of Doan Ket High School, explained: "Last year, the school had a fairly high standard score, up to 40 points. Maybe this year the number of candidates in Hanoi increased, so parents and students consulted and considered this score before registering their wishes.
Parents and candidates have chosen schools with the highest safety of admission due to concerns that this year's admission scores will increase compared to last year, so the number of candidates applying to the school is lower. This year, the number of applications to the school is also lower than the target."
In 2024, Doan Ket - Hai Ba Trung High School was assigned 675 quotas. However, only 554 candidates registered their first choice to enter this school, the competition ratio was 1/0.82.

In addition to Doan Ket High School, some schools also saw a significant decrease in scores, such as Nguyen Quoc Trinh High School with 3.75 points; Pham Hong Thai High School with 3.25 points; Dong Da High School and My Duc C High School both dropped 3 points. The remaining schools ranged from 0.25 to 2.75 points.
On the contrary, there are 53 schools that increased their admission scores for grade 10 in 2024. Of which, the two schools with the highest increase in scores are Quoc Oai High School and Bat Bat High School, both increasing by 8 points. Next are Ngoc Hoi High School with 5.75 points and Tho Xuan High School with 5.25 points.
