"Tran Dynasty History" for young readers

Worried that young people today rarely read our history, writer Tran Thanh Canh took up the pen to write "Tran History" with the hope that history through short and emotional love stories would be more easily accessible to young readers today.

These are open-ended questions that lead curious readers to find answers behind the "door" of "Truyen su Tran" - a book of 7 short stories inspired by important periods in the Tran Dynasty.

Not only recreating the outstanding events of this period, the short stories also delve into the psychology and inner thoughts of historical figures, creating the appeal of the stories. Those are the early stormy days in “Noon Dream”, the glorious years of fighting the Mongol-Yuan invaders in “Dem Nguyet Ban”… to the declining days and months after Duong Nhat Le’s time in “Con Son Vi Vut”.

Author Tran Thanh Canh does not avoid the dark corners of history, but his pen is always full of sympathy for human fate in each individual situation. Therefore, historical figures are portrayed not only through actions of national significance, but also through very ordinary feelings, with the joys and sorrows, torments and conflicts they have to face.

Putting a literary cloak on historical events and characters, the book "Tran's History" is written in a modern style, interwoven with new elements that are loved by young readers today such as time travel and dreams.

At the book launch event of “Tran History” organized by Tri Thuc Tre books on the afternoon of January 11 in Hanoi , author Tran Thanh Canh shared: “I wrote this book with a very clear purpose, which is to target young people. Letting our people know our history is the responsibility of all those who work in literature and art.”

Also at the book launch, Tri Thuc Tre books and author Tran Thanh Canh launched the contest "Reading and writing about historical figures of the Tran Dynasty" aimed at students and young people who love national history. The contest will accept entries from now until April 15, 2025 and is expected to conclude and award prizes at the end of May 2025.
